Casa State is an independent residential project in Giurgiu, Romania, set within a small walnut orchard at the edge of a village. The project responds to the client's ambition for a holiday house with a strong connection to the orchard.

Drawing from local vernacular architecture, the design features a covered porch that extends the living space outdoors while protecting the house from sun and rain.

Developed in close collaboration with the client, the floor plan minimises circulation and makes efficient use of space. As the house was intended to be self-built, the design prioritises simple construction methods, accessible materials and straightforward details.
